Hello everyone! Thanks for checking in.
I have many dream races in both the US and overseas, but that would make for a very...long...post! So, in this post, I'll share my top three bucket list races is the US. I'll create a separate list of overseas races I'd like to run later. Also, since these races are in the US, it's much more likely that I'll be able to make them happen!
The Detroit Free Press Marathon. (Detroit, Michigan)
October 16-17, 2021.
This first race is one that is very dear to my heart, since it's on my home turf. You can find race info at freepmarathon.com. I've run the US half marathon, there is also an international half marathon. Since moving across the country, I'd love to fly back to Detroit to run the full marathon. Added bonus— running this race would afford me a long overdue trip home so I could spend some much-needed time with my friends and family. This year's race takes place the weekend of October 16-17, 2021. Keep in mind this race runs through Detroit to Windsor, Canada by way of the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, so you will need proper documentation, such as a passport or enhanced driver's license. You'll see some beautiful areas along the course, such as Belle Isle and the Detroit River Walk. If I survive my 50k next month, I'll most likely plan to take on this race later this year.
Walt Disney World, Dopey Challenge. (Orlando, Florida)
January 2022.
This next event typically takes place during the second week of January, and is something that I've wanted to tackle ever since I started going to RunDisney events. Like the website says at rundisney.com, the Dopey Challenge covers 48.6 magical miles over 4 consecutive days. When the Disney races can be safely held in person, I'll plan to participate...I'm looking at you January 2022. I've somewhat checked this off my bucket list already, since I've participated in Disney races in 2016, 2017 and 2018, but I've never run their full marathon, so the Dopey Challenge certainly takes things up a notch! There is so much excitement on Disney's courses; for instance, there are character stops with amazing photo ops, and loads of buzzing music to keep you fully entertained...Disney style! I'd recommend a Disney race to anyone who wants to run through the parks and who likes, well...FUN! (See why I call it Fun Run Motive)! Running should be fun and Disney sure reminds you of just that. You also get some amazing finisher medals! RunDisney...here I come!
Zion Half Marathon. (Apple Valley, Utah)
February 27, 2021
Ever since I moved out west, I've wanted to visit Zion National Park. Score! Through a Facebook ad, I recently found out there's a half marathon at Zion Nation Park. According to their website, vacationraces.com/half-marathons/zion/#course the race overlooks the red cliffs of Zion Canyon. The terrain is dirt road and trail, so it may be more challenging than your typical road half marathon. I bet the gorgeous scenery of the red cliffs and the Virgin River are simply amazing and worth the trip! Since it appears the race sells out quickly and the date is approaching fast, I'll most likely sign up another year. The website provides info on training, and travel and lodging to help you plan your visit. I will definitely plan to run this race in the near future. For now, I'll read through the book I actually bought for my husband. Wink, wink!
I'll keep adding races to my list!

In my next list I'll take a look at foour overseas options:
Athens Marathon, Paris Marathon, Great Wall of China, Petra Desert Marathon.

What races do you want to add to your bucket list? Please share! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Happy training!
